A note for November from Hiltingbury Interiors
Embracing autumn
Here at the studio, October was a jam-packed month! Our schedules have been filled with visits from some of our favourite brands, who were eager to showcase their stunning new collections ahead of Decorex. With so many inspiring designs to choose from, we couldn’t resist adding several beautiful new fabric ranges to our library - and we can’t wait to incorporate them into our current and upcoming projects. We’ve also ordered some exciting new stock, which you’ll spot soon on our social channels and in future newsletters.
This month, as promised, we’re shining a light on the power of lighting! We reached out to our friends at Industville for their expert advice on illuminating your spaces. Their insight is invaluable, and we’re so grateful to work alongside a company that shares our passion for quality and craftsmanship. Here’s what Industville’s founder, Mara Rypacek Miller, had to say:
Mara Rypacek Miller's advice
"Lighting has the power to transform a space, setting the mood and defining its character. And when choosing lighting, it's important to consider not only function but also form - how it works, how it feels, and how it looks within the wider design scheme. From selecting the right scale and bulb temperature to choosing finishes that diffuse light beautifully and reflect your personal style, every detail matters.
From a functional standpoint, layering light is essential. A well-balanced space should combine three key layers; ambient lighting to create a base glow, task lighting for practical purposes, and accent lighting to highlight features and add depth. Equally, technical considerations such as bulb temperature, dimming capabilities and smart lighting systems play a vital role in achieving flexibility and comfort.
Then there's form. The materials and shapes we choose have a profound effect on how our homes feel. Textured or smoked glass shades are particularly popular at the moment for the soft, diffused light they cast, while organic material and fluid, curved silhouettes help create a calming, harmonious atmosphere. Your choice of lighting is also an expression of personal taste: traditional fittings bring timeless elegance, farmhouse styles add warmth and rustic charm, and industrial design introduces bold, modern character.
Ultimately lighting isn’t just about illumination - it’s about creating a mood, enhancing functionality, and telling the story of your home.”

Introducing new stock
Finally, we couldn't forget to mention the beautiful new stock that's just arrived in the shop - cosy, fluffy and absolutely perfect for the season. We were convinced from the very first touch that these cushions and blankets were a must-have for the months ahead. They're ideal for creating a warm, autumnal feel at home and make equally wonderful gifts. Pop into the shop to see (and feel!) for yourself why these pieces are set to be favourites this Christmas.
As the leaves turn from green to amber and we embrace our cosy knits and blankets, we want to wish you all a relaxing November! It won’t be long until the sparkle of the festive season is well and truly upon us, but until then, we are heads down here at the studio working on some fantastic, exciting projects.
Best wishes
